When you mention holidays to an African (my wonderful people), they don’t believe it is for them. Taking some days off to go on holidays is for the "white" or very rich people who have the luxury of time to gallivant the world. A wrong concept that have been conceived for a long time and this myth has to be burst.

Holiday is a short period from work, school or business activities. It could also be a day set aside to observe, celebrate or commemorate an event or religious significance. Though holidays are not very popular in this part of the world except those set aside by custom or law, as people want to keep working to make ends meet. The bills are rising, the jobs are not secured so there is need to keep up with the work input in order to still remain significant to the economy.

Just like your mobile phone that need to be recharged when the battery is down so is taking break good for you to perform optimally.

Some essential benefits of taking out time for holidays are:
  • Increase your productivity

When you take time off work to relax, you come back to duty physically and mentally alert as you bring sharp, industrious and creative ideas to work.

  • A stress reliever

Taking time off work helps to relieve tension that have accumulated in your body over a period of time. You can relax the body as stress wears one down and burnout is costly for productivity and growth of a business.
  •   Improve the Health

Taking time out for vacation helps you to live longer. This is because you have recharged yourself, so you are more alert than working under pressure. Depression, ill-health, body pains and untimely death as part of the risk of burning out will be reduced.
  •  Revamp your relationship

What is the benefit of working if your family cannot feel you? Your social life, family or relationship should not suffer because you are work obsessed. Taking time out to spend with them help to revitalize your relationship.
